Administrative Services Manager Miriam Jones accepts grant funding from MIRMA Loss Prevention Specialist Kelly Beets.

The City of Waynesville received a Risk Management Grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association or MIRMA. The grant was awarded to the City in recognition of the efforts of staff to lower liability through safety training, inspections of buildings and vehicles and regular maintenance of facilities and grounds.

Administrative Services Manager Miriam Jones oversees the city's safety program and is the City's point of contact for MIRMA's annual safety audit. Ms. Jones, along with the City's Safety Committee and City staff have worked diligently to raise the city's "Safety Score" over the last few years. The city scored in the mid 80's the first year with MIRMA. Ms. Jones was happy to report that the city had received a score of 98 out of a 100 for 2024. Having a high safety score contributes to lower property insurance rates for the City.

This proceeds from this year's grant has been used to purchase a Flammable Storage Cabinet for the City's new Fire Department.
